Cistus ladaniferus

Cistus Hydrolat aka hydrosol is the water obtained by steam distilling the shrub's leaves and twigs of the cistus plant.

As a toner, it soothes irritated or inflamed skin, reduces redness, and promotes healing of minor cuts, making it ideal for sensitive, reactive, or aging skin. It also serves as a soothing mouthwash post-dental work, a gentle wash for minor post-intimate activity discomfort, and a diaper rash soother for babies. 

Historically, Cistus symbolized resilience and rebirth. Ancient Greeks and Romans used cistus-derived waters and resins in healing baths, perfumes, and sacred ceremonies, believing it warded off negativity and invoked divine protection. Spraying the hydrolat in a meditation space may enhance intuition and spiritual connection.
